Abstract

One pivotal renewable energy source that holds significant importance in contemporary energy frameworks is solar energy. Numerous studies are being conducted to harness natural and eco-friendly solar energy for sustainable energy systems because of the concern and demand for ecologically viable solutions to global predicaments. This chapter encompasses the fundamental principles, mechanisms, and applications of photovoltaic cells within emerging solar technologies. It also looks at design techniques that improve solar energy capture and utilization using various technical breakthroughs, such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, with the goal of developing, installing, and maintaining solar energy systems more effectively. The chapter also elucidates the benefits of solar-powered architecture pertaining to environmental, economic, and societal dimensions, underscoring its role in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and bolstering energy resilience. Additionally, it accentuates the prospects for further research and development, as well as prospective aspects of these energy systems.
